About Maria Ordonez
I’m a registered psychologist providing therapy in Mount Lawley, Perth, and via telehealth across Australia. I offer a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to therapy, with a focus on creating a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted as you are.
I offer therapy in both, English and Spanish/Ofrezco terapia tanto en inglés como en español.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe every person’s experiences are shaped not only by individual circumstances, but also by culture, identity, relationships, biological factors, workplaces, and broader social systems. Because of this, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
My work is grounded in curiosity, cultural responsiveness, and collaboration. I take the time to understand your perspective so therapy feels relevant to your life, values, and lived experience.
I draw from:
Trauma-informed care
Evidence-based psychological approaches
Liberation psychology
Social justice-informed practice
I also value inclusivity and welcome people from diverse cultural backgrounds, identities, genders and sexualities, and neurotypes, including ADHD and autistic individuals.
Having grown up within a collectivist culture and migrated from Spain, where I completed my psychology training, I bring both personal and professional insight into the complexities that can arise around identity, migration, belonging, cultural expectations, and wellbeing.
I understand that experiences of discrimination, marginalisation, identity exploration, and navigating systems that may not always feel safe or inclusive can significantly impact mental health. My aim is to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, respected, and supported without needing to explain or justify who they are.
My Therapeutic Style
My therapeutic style is collaborative, reflective, and human. I value authenticity in the therapy room and believe humour and lightness can coexist alongside meaningful therapeutic work.
I see therapy as something we build together. Your feedback matters, and you’re always welcome to let me know if something doesn’t feel helpful or aligned so we can adapt the process in a way that works for you.
I have been praised for providing a space where people feel safe, respected, and genuinely listened to.
